Blocked Outlook Express Attachments

After you install Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows XP SP1 (both of which include Outlook Express 6 SP1), access to some of your e-mail attachments in Outlook Express may be removed. For example, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

* When you click the paper clip in the Preview pane, the Save Attachments and file_name commands are unavailable.
* When you open an e-mail message, the Save Attachments command is unavailable on the File menu, the Attach field is missing from the e-mail message, and the following message is displayed in the message alert bar at the top of the e-mail message:
Outlook Express removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your email: file_name1, file_name2

This behavior occurs if the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option is enabled, and the e-mail attachment is determined by Outlook Express to be "unsafe". By default, the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option is enabled in Outlook Express 6 SP1. When this virus-protection feature is enabled, Outlook Express uses the Internet Explorer unsafe file list and the Confirm open after download setting in Folder Options to determine if a file is safe. Any e-mail attachment with a file type that is reported as "unsafe" is not downloaded, and access to the attachment is removed.

If you are sure that the attachment is safe to download or open, use the following method: NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Turn off the Option to Use the Unsafe File List
To turn off the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option:

1. Start Outlook Express.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.

IMPORTANT: The methods that are described in this article make it possible for you to obtain access to file attachments in Outlook Express. Download file attachments and scan them for viruses before you open them. To save file attachments so that you can scan them for viruses before you open them:

1. Open the e-mail message in Outlook Express.
2. On the File menu, click Save Attachments.
3. Specify the folder in which you want to save the attachments in the Save To box, and then click Save.

Quote of the day

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.

Compress Picture Using Email

Emailing photo can be either really easy or very difficult depending upon whether you know how to do it or not. If you know how to email photos, it is so simple to do. If you have never done it before, it seems like you will never get the hang of it. Have no fear it is easy to learn how to send photos by email.

There are two major options that you have available. The first is to simply compress the overall picture size before you email photo; you do this by reducing the number of pixels in the image. This is typically a much more complicated process, and takes a great amount of time to do, as well as effects the quality of the picture you are trying to compress.

You can then take the modified picture and simply attach the file to your email message that you are sending. This is called an attachment, which allows the entire picture to be “clipped” to the message you are sending. When you attach a file, it is very similar to slipping a copy of a document into an envelope and mailing it to someone. Same concept, except email is much quicker and does not involve a post office.

Most major email programs have the option to attach files (and digital photo is a file) to your email messages. It is generally done using the “Attach” function. I am going to briefly explain where you can find these functions in the major email programs so that you can soon be sending messages like the pros.

Hotmail and Yahoo are very simple to use, all you need to do is click “Attach” and then browse your computer for the files. Select the files you wish to attach and then send them on their way.

AOL is the same way, except for clicking on “Attach” you would click on a button that says “Attachment” It is a very simple process to attach files and email photo using these methods. They make it quite simple to attach multiple files, so you can send several pictures with each message.

Eudora, Netscape, and Outlook all utilize a paper clip icon that stands for the “Attach” function. This is very fitting since you are basically clipping a file to the message you are sending. It is a very simple and effective method of sending the file you wish.

Some programs will allow you to attach a file simply by dragging the file into the composing window for your message. Outlook supports this quite simply, while other programs are starting to expand to support this.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to change initial photo sizes you can compress your photo with one of the advanced photo compression methods.

Alternative way: using advanced photo compression software with option to email pictures.

How to Compress Picture

The change from the cine film to digital methods of image exchange and archival is primarily motivated by the ease and flexibility of handling digital image information instead of the film media. While preparing this step and developing standards for digital image communication, one has to make absolutely sure that also the image quality of coronary angiograms and ventriculograms is maintained or improved. Similar requirements exist also in echocardiography.

Regarding image quality, the most critical step in going from the analog world (cine film or high definition live video in the catheterization laboratory) to the digital world is the digitization of the signals. For this step, the basic requirement of maintaining image quality is easily translated into two basic quantitative parameters:

* the rate of digital image data transfer or data rate (Megabit per second or Mb/s)
* and the total amount of digital storage required or data capacity (Megabyte or MByte).

As a specific example, the spatial resolution of the cine film is generally assumed to be equivalent to a digital matrix of at least 1000 by 1000 pixels, each with up to 256 gray levels (8 bit or one byte) of contrast information (see Syllabus Unit 1). The following table derives from this principal parameter some examples for requirements on digital image communication and archival in a catheterization laboratory with low to medium volume.
Film Digital
Spatial resolution 4 linepairs/mm 1024*1024 pixels
Data capacity per image 1 Megabyte (MByte)
Data rate 30 images per seconds 30 MByte per second

Data capacity per patient exam 2,400 images 2,400 MByte
Media one film four CD-R
Data for 10 years 30,000 films 120,000 CD-R

Table 1 Scenario for replacement of cine film by digital imaging with high resolution

From Table 1 we see, that in this scenario the enormous data rate of 30 Megabyte per second has to be supported. This is much faster than even advanced ATM networks (offering less than 20 Mbyte/s or 160 Mbit/s). Looking for existing off-line media, real-time display from CD-R would require a CD-R player with a data rate of 200X, while the fastest players available presently deliver 50X (1X stands for a data rate of 150 KByte per second). The total amount of data or the ‘data capacity’ required in this scenario is even more frightening (see Table 1).

Computer technology, however, provides flexible principles for processing large amounts of information. Among the algorithms available is image data reduction or ‘image compression’. The principal approach in data compression is the reduction of the amount of image data (bits) while preserving information (image details). This technology is a key enabling factor in many imaging and multimedia concepts outside of medicine. So one has to ask if cardiology really will have to cope with these enormous and totally uncommon requirements concerning digital data rates and digital data capacity (Table 1), or if image compression can also be applied without problems in cardiac imaging.

At a closer look one observes that ad hoc approaches to image data compression have been applied in most digital imaging systems for the catheterization laboratory all the time. An example is recording the x-ray images with a smaller matrix of just 512 by 512 pixels (instead of the 1024 by 1024 pixel matrix often applied for real-time displays). In order to objectively assess these and other techniques of image data compression, some systematic knowledge of the tradeoffs implied in different modes of image data reduction is mandatory.

Photography tips for beginners

Before going to our own ideas from dptutorial (with oddities and extremes), you should know there is a pretty standard list of useful tips. Here what we think that every beginner should learn as basics and every advanced photographer at least should keep in mind:

*Choose a subject or message of your photo

. If there is no clear real subject, nothing of graphical interest and no mood to convey, it is probably not an interesting photo.

*Photography tips for beginners - distracting backgroundRemove things that don’t add to the photo

. Especially if they detract from the central message. Don’t only know what to include, but also what to exclude. Find a simple background and look for balance.
In this example the hand of the woman below and the colorful yellow and blue shirts are distracting elements. Waiting until the hand is gone and standing a few steps more to the left, so the people in the back are out of the frame, would both improve the photo.

*Don’t be afraid to zoom in or get very close
. The most common mistake is that photos are taken from too far away and that there is just too much environment that doesn’t add to the message. Filling the image with the subject underlines what the intended subject is, and removes cluttered background. It achieves simplicity.

*Don’t automatically center your subjects

. Beginning photographers massively center their main subjects on their photos. This is not illogical because the photographer aims at the subject with the camera viewer. If you rather place the subject outside the center it will often result in a more dynamic composition. Experiment with that.
A popular guideline is the rule of thirds. Imagine the frame divided into thirds, both vertically and horizontally, like a tic-tac-toe board. Then place the subject on or near one of the lines or intersections. This is called the rule of thirds, or the ‘golden mean’. However don’t follow this rule slavishly.

Remember that the eyes are most important for people and animals. When zooming in and the head fills the image, the rule of thirds applies to the position of the eyes.Photography tips for beginners - rule of the thirds

*Be sure to hold your camera level

. It will break the strength of your photo if the horizon appears with an apparent angle.

Sometimes photo opportunities appear in a split second, and you have just no time to control the angle of your camera. When at home your photo appears to be tilted, no problem. With imaging tools it’s easy to level the photo afterwards. However this gives a small loss in image quality. So practise your reflex to hold your camera level in the first place.Photography tips for beginners - Horizon tiltedPhotography tips for beginners - horizon level

*Eyes are exceptionally important

. They tell the story. When photographing people and animals everything else can be hidden or cropped out: the mouth, the nose, the hair. But the eyes must be visible.

In addition, the eyes have to be tack sharp. Unsharpness of the eyes will hurt the attraction to the eyes, and with that the quality of the photo. If the eyes are not sharp, the photo doesn’t look sharp.

*Watch the distance with flash
. Don’t bother using flash over 30 feet away. Most non professional flashes just completely don’t function at this distance or greater. Flash works best with nearby subjects. When taking a scenery of a bridge at some distance, flash won’t help. Instead of flash, use longer exposure times and a tripod or, if necessary, a higher iso setting.

When photographing multiple people with flash, be aware that persons that are close will be illuminated by the flash much more than persons further away. So if you want all of them as prominent, have all at the same close distance from your camera.

*As a rule make use the full range of luminosity
: from completely dark (black) to completely white. This makes photos dynamic and vivid.

On the other side don’t over expose with digital camera’s. The information of over exposed parts of the image will be lost definitively and can’t even be recovered by imaging tools. Under exposing is also unfortunate. Image tools can light up the darks and make the tonal visible, however with some or even considerable noise.

Directly after taking a photograph, reading the histogram can be helpful. If the histogram is pegged against the right end, the photo is over exposed. When pegged against the left hand, it is under exposed.

But adjusting the settings of the camera to capture the whole full range of luminosity without over or under exposing can be quite a struggle. Just be sure not to overexpose. Adjusting levels afterwards with an imaging tool will be the rescue.

*Make a selection of your photos

. Don’t put all your photos, complete with all the flawed versions of the same scene, in your (online) photo album. The bad ones harm the attention that the best ones deserve. Make a critical selection of your photos, keep the very best. This will enhance your the overall quality of the album enormously.

*The tree growing out of the subject’s shoulder or head is a classic photographic syndrome.
As you position yourself for the photo look out for power poles, lamp posts and other objects behind the subject that can ruin your photo. When it happens, reposition yourself or the subject.

Also avoid objects in the background that visually merge with the subject because they have the same color. Let the subject be free-standing.

How to remove, crack, or break a forgotten Excel xls password

Excel Password Remover 2007 is a freeware program that you can use to remove/crack/break/unlock a password on an Excel workbook or sheet. However, you still have to be able to open the file itself. If the file is protected in that you cannot even open the file without typing a password, I’ll mention another program that you can use to crack that Excel password.

However, for most Excel password protection, it’s usually on the workbook or sheet so that someone can view the file, but not make structural changes to the file or changes to the cells. If this is your case, download the add-in and double-click on it. Excel will open and you’ll be asked whether to enable or disable the macros associated with the add-in. Of course, enable it.
